Short-Term or Part-Time Expertise Enables Companies

To Remain Productive in Absence of Top Marketing Executive

Chicago, IL (August 30, 2007, updated July, 2019) Gerald Linda & Associates (GL&A), a Chicago-based strategic marketing and research firm, has announced the creation of Interim Marketing Leadership (IML), a new service capability providing short-term or part-time C-level marketing expertise to organizations experiencing extended staff absences or lack of executive-level support.

According to the Financial Times (July 31, 2007), demand for executive-level interim managers is at an all time high because of a combination of talent shortages, time constraints on permanent managers and the need for wisdom and experience.
Interim Marketing Leadership (IML) refers to a consulting assignment for a C-level professional as THE or one of the senior marketing leaders in an organization on a short-term or part-time basis. It also allows an organization to gain supplemental expertise to complete a high-priority project when current staff is 100% engaged or when an organization, which has not yet developed the need for a full-time, marketing professional, realizes it needs proficient expertise now. In all cases, GL&A serves as the company’s top marketing executive and/or leads an existing department or project.

Based on need, a GL&A IML executive can handle the following responsibilities:

  • Create or continue the marketing strategy and develop formal marketing plans
  • Serve as CMO at the executive table
  • Execute all or part of the marketing plan with hands-on actions
  • Direct product development
  • Oversee marketing communications planning and execution
  • Create and/or manage budgets
  • Supervise employees, support internal teams
  • Plan and execute new marketing research
  • Create and implement all PR activities
  • Evaluate/update website messaging, positioning and functionality
  • Manage trade show participation
  • Hire and/or supervise outside agents, e.g., PR, advertising, direct response, digital, designers, exhibit developers, etc.

GL&A, founded in 1994, offers IML on a retained, project or hourly basis and has served several clients in this capacity including extended stints as Director of Marketing at Neat-Oh! International toy company and Erie Family Health Centers, a 13-site,  leading community health provider. In addition to its expanded IML services, the company provides strategic marketing planning, marketing research design, implementation and analysis and broad-based business counsel to dozens of consumer and B2B clients.
